ANIMAL CONTROL/DOG CATCHER POSITION

The Town of Wittenberg is looking to hire a responsible Animal Control Officer, aka "Dog Catcher" to cover the following 8 municipalities: Town of Wittenberg, Village of Wittenberg, Village of Bowler, Town of Seneca, Town of Morris, Village of Eland, Town of Birnamwood and the Ho-Chunk Nation. (Between Wittenberg & Birnamwood) All municipalities are located in Shawano County.
This position is an "on-call" position and you must be available if and when services are needed.
Applicants must be over the age of 18, carry a valid Driver's License, must not be frightened of stray dogs, have a reliable vehicle to transport any dog(s) picked up, have reliable cell phone service, be able to walk short to long distances, and pass a drug screening.
Position pays: Hourly wage of $18.50 an hour plus mileage (currently 72.5 cents a mile); pick-up fees (within the Town of Wittenberg=$20.00 per dog, all other municipalities= $30.00 per dog); and $10.00 a day for Kenell Care (daily water & food, walks, etc).
Paychecks are handed out every 3rd Tuesday of each month (date will vary) at the Monthly Town Board Meeting. Or if you prefer "Direct Deposit," payday is the 15th of each month.
Please note that some months you could receive 2 to 3 calls, and in other months no calls at all. This is a very part-time position.
Applicant will also be responsible to complete the annual Town of Wittenberg "Dog Listings" every fall, and will need to keep in good communication with the Clerk.
