
ANIMAL CONTROL SERVICES
Town of Wittenberg's Animal Control Department services the following municipalities in Shawano County, WI:
Town of Wittenberg*, Village of Wittenberg, Town of Birnamwood*,
Town of Seneca, Village of Bowler, Town of Morris and
& Village of Eland
* Please be advised that at this time, due to the absence of a signed contract between the Ho Chunk Nation and Town of Wittenberg's Animal Control Services, properties located on Ho Chunk Tribal land are not covered by the Town of Wittenberg's Animal Control.
Residents or business owners located on Ho Chunk Tribal land who need to report dogs at large should contact the Shawano County Sheriff's Department directly @ 715-526-4111
Animal Control is responsible for capturing stray dogs within these municipalities to provide shelter, food and care until the owner(s) of the dog(s) can be located.
To help locate owner(s), all dogs picked up by Animal Control will be shared to this website and the Town of Wittenberg's Facebook page.

If the dog's owner(s) cannot be located during the required 10 day holding period, the dog becomes property of the Town of Wittenberg and will then be transferred and available to the public for adoption through the Shawano County Humane Society.
