ANIMAL CONTROL SERVICES

The Town of Wittenberg currently does not have a dog catcher. If you need to report a stray dog please call the Shawano County Sheriffs Dept. at 715-526-4111.

Once a new dog catcher is hired, this webpage will be updated with that person's number to call. 

If you are interested in the dog catcher position, please contact the Town Clerk for employment details.

Town of Wittenberg's Animal Control Department services the following municipalities in Shawano County, WI:

Town of Wittenberg, Village of Wittenberg, Town of Birnamwood,

Town of Seneca, Village of Bowler, Town of Morris and

& Village of Eland

 

Animal Control is responsible for capturing stray dogs within these municipalities to provide shelter, food and care until the owner(s) of the dog(s) can be located.

To help locate owner(s), all dogs picked up by Animal Control will be shared to this website and the Town of Wittenberg's Facebook page.

PLEASE CLICK ON THIS IMPOUNDED ANIMAL RECLAMATION POLICY LINK FOR IMPORTANT INFORMATION BEFORE CLAIMING YOUR DOG.

If the dog's owner(s) cannot be located during the required 10 day holding period, the dog becomes property of the Town of Wittenberg and will then be transferred and available to the public for adoption through the Shawano County Humane Society.
