Resolution No. 2026-5-19

 

For the Town of Wittenberg, Shawano County, to Adopt the County Ordinance Regulating All-Terrain and Utility Terrain Vehicles

 

          Whereas, Shawano County has adopted Ordinance No. 17-25, establishing regulations for the operation of all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) and utility terrain vehicles (UTVs) within the county; and

 

         Whereas, the Town Board of the Town of Wittenberg recognizes the importance of consistent rules across jurisdictions to promote public safety, protect property, and ensure responsible recreational use; and

 

         Whereas, Wisconsin Statues § 23.33 authorizes towns to adopt ordinances relating to the operation of ATVs and UTVs, including by reference to county ordinances.

 

        Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Town Board of the Town of Wittenberg, Shawano County, in session this 19^th day of May, 2026 that:

 

1. Adoption by Reference: The Town of Wittenberg hereby adopts by reference Shawano County Ordinance No. 17-25, including any future amendments thereto, as it applies to the operation of ATVs and UTVs within the Town’s jurisdiction.

 

2. Enforcement: This resolution shall be enforced by the Shawano County Sheriff’s Office in accordance with applicable laws.

 

3. Effective Date: This resolution shall take effect upon passage and publication/posting as required by law.
